Dr. Fred Montalvo and the Egal Solution

THE PROBLEM

Menstrual equity has been a pressing issue in schools, often leading to barriers for students’ education and well-being. In Las Cruces Public Schools (LCPS), Dr. Fred Montalvo, the Executive Director of Operations, spearheaded efforts to address this issue in line with House Bill 134, signed into law in New Mexico.

Dr. Montalvo’s experience in education made him aware of the challenges faced by students due to inadequate access to menstrual products. Realizing the impact on students’ ability to fully engage in their education, he identified menstrual equity as a vital aspect of fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Egal presents the first truly unique solution for providing menstrual products in public places. Prior to offering Egal, LD Supply could only offer a [basic] product in this category—not the kind of innovative solutions we pride ourselves on implementing with end-users.”

THE EGAL DIFFERENCE

Conveniently packaged and easily accessible through dispensers similar to those used for toilet paper, Egal Pads on a Roll eliminate the need for vending machines, making menstrual products readily available where they are needed the most—inside the bathroom stall.

THE SOLUTION

Dr. Montalvo partnered with the Egal team via local distributor LD Supply to place Pads on a Roll in Las Cruces Public Schools. Dr. Montalvo appreciated the ease of implementation and cost-effectiveness of the Egal solution.

THE OUTCOME

Las Cruces Public Schools were able to provide free Egal period products in over 180 stalls, a huge step toward achieving menstrual equity in their community.
